Climbing Kilimanjaro with Justin Caplan – Part 16

This video clip is another one of my favorite moments from our trip.

I was honored to lead the team in prayer before our hikes each day. But on summit day – after we had completed our goal, our hearts were overflowing with gratitude.

I hope you’ll take the time to listen. Hearing the interpreter translate my words so our guides and porters could also understand them was a meaningful way to end our journey.

My friend, Matthew, remarked that I was the “spiritual advisor and voice of calm” on our journey. But, I never set out to play that role. So, I was very humbled when I heard that.

However, looking back, I’m grateful that God equipped me to step into that role during this trip.

I hope that our guides and porters were able to grasp the depth of our gratitude for them. I hope they know that not only did we pray for them during our trip, but we will also continue to do so.

We will forever be thankful for their joyful hearts as they helped us. It took each person’s remarkable strengths and skills for us to complete our goal of summiting Mount Kilimanjaro.
